Music Mix of the Week: December Holiday Island Vibes

Celebrating Christmas on a tropical climate is definitely different compared to a cold one. For starters there’s really no need for a fireplace in the house (but maybe a bonfire at the beach) nor is there chance of experiencing snow (instead we have plenty of rain). But this doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ourselves during this period – especially with music. So we decided to make a little playlist of what we’re listening to this holiday.

Starting with Kaskade’s old remix of Bing Crosby’s ‘White Christmas’ the tune itself speaks chilled  beats for a warm holiday.  Right after we had to add something a little more contemporary by Urban Jazz before we head straight into instrumental jazzy hiphop beats by Lakata.

Going a little bit more mainstream we decided to throw in this beatboxing Christmas track Kina Grannis recorded with DeStorm a few years ago before we head over to this cool acapella track from super talented Indonesian siblings Gamaliel Tapiheru singing with his sister Georgina live in the streets of Paris.

Moving on to something more romantic, we decided to add a cover of ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside’ by indie singer Calvin Lamothe who duets with the sweetest voice  of Stevie Lorann. Then we decide to pick up the beat a little with some trippy holiday track by Sufjan Stevens called “Christmas Unicorn”.  And lastly we decided to end our mix with good ol’ ‘Silent Night’ covered by chamber folk musician Simbosan.

Do you have a holiday playlist? Do share it with us too! 🙂
